Every year, the District hosts a variety of events, bringing the community and members together, to celebrate the arts and culture while building a deeper connection within the community.
GET HAPPY is chockablock full of crowd-pleasers and thumb-snappers like our Kids Choir version of the Beatles classic “Ob-La-Di, Ob -La-Da” and a fierce rendering of Andy Frammee’s “Don’t Give Up On Me” by our Teens. The Adult Choir joins the fun with B.J.Thomas’ rollicking “Hooked on a Feeling”…with that iconic “ooga-chucka” backbeat. S&S also revels in big choral sings like Robert Lowry’s American Folk Classic “How Can I Keep From Singing.” Did we mention the smashing tribute to the blockbuster film score of The Greatest Showman with “From Now On,” “A Million Dreams” and a roof-raising “This is Me” guaranteed to bring down the house!
In its indelible style, S&S spotlights the remarkable work of local organizations, and this year we celebrate Home Base.
Home Base is a national nonprofit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen. We offer an achingly beautiful tribute to this worthy organization and in honor to our forever member, Brett Conaway, dedicating the beautiful Scottish air called “The Parting Glass” – sure to touch your hearts.
So, join the fun Saturday, May 13 at 7pm and join us Sunday, May 14 at 2pm for a special Mother’s Day celebration. Tell your friends!
