Reading Frederick Douglass

June 19, 2023@10:00 am - 11:00 am

You know about Frederick Douglass, but are you familiar with his 1852 speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”

On Juneteenth, come to the front lawn of the Morse Institute Library to hear this powerful speech read aloud by members of our community. Historian and Natick resident Brenna Greer will offer an introduction to the speech and facilitate dialogue afterwards. Coffee and snacks will be served.

The reading will be filmed by Natick Pegasus. This event is free and open to the public. Please bring your own chair or blanket. Bathrooms at the Morse Institute Library will NOT be open.

If you would like to read part of the speech publicly at this event, please let us know here.
