SUMMARY:BOTH SIDES NOW: The Music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen
DESCRIPTION:“Two singer-songwriters sit on the edge of a cliff…” With these words\, we are drawn into the world of Both Sides Now – a theatrical concert that explores the music and lives of long-time friends and one-time lovers\, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Created by\, and starring Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz\, the cabaret-style performance traverses decades alongside songs such as A Case of You\, Hallelujah\, Big Yellow Taxi\, Suzanne\, and many more. Both Sides Now is at once a piece of the 60s and 70s\, and of right now — offering us a story about the messiness of being human\, of lives persistently lived at the edge of growth\, and of finding the courage to turn toward one another\, again and again. \nRobbie Schaefer\nRobbie is a rabbi\, singer-songwriter\, and theatre/film artist. The guitarist and songwriter for the indie-folk band Eddie From Ohio has several solo releases as well\, including the 2023 single Under the Sun. \nDanielle Wertz\nDanielle is a storyteller\, collaborator\, jazz musician\, composer and arranger. Described as\, “untarnished by the politics of music” (Jazz Music Archives) and “a masterful ballad interpreter” (New York City Jazz Record) she has rapidly gained national acclaim. \nVisit: bothsidesnowshow.com

SUMMARY:Eilen Jewell
DESCRIPTION:Hailed as “one of America’s most intriguing\, creative\, and idiosyncratic voices” by American Songwriter\, Jewell built her career the old-fashioned way\, touring relentlessly with the kind of undeniable live show that converts the uninitiated into instant acolytes. Over the course of nearly two decades on the road\, the Idaho native has crisscrossed the US\, Europe\, and Australia countless times\, playing an endless series of headline and festival dates in addition to sharing bills with the likes of Lucinda Williams\, Loretta Lynn\, Mavis Staples\, Wanda Jackson\, George Jones\, Emmylou Harris\, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. \nVisit: eilenjewell.com

SUMMARY:Atlanta Rhythm Section
DESCRIPTION:The Atlanta Rhythm Section… ARS… In the annals of rock and roll\, where do they fit? They put out 15 albums of excellent original material\, and consistently put on entertaining live shows-both of which helped establish a broad if not huge fan base. They had some big hits and have been a major player in the Southern Rock scene. But is that the whole story? In some circles\, maybe. But for those who’ve really gotten to know their music over the years\, there’s a lot more to the story. \nYou know Atlanta Rhythm Section from the hits So Into You\, I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight\, Champagne Jam\, Imaginary Lover\, and their session work on the original recording of Spooky made famous by the Classics IV\, and later re-recorded by ARS. \nARS was paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers – carrying the mantle of “Southern Rock” in the late 70s. Based in Atlanta\, Georgia\, it may have made sense at the time. But performing songs that were more musically diverse and having hits that had a softer\, pop sound\, the “Southern Rock” label was a mixed blessing and many of their unique musical accomplishments became lost in a genre that has lived on to this day-but never really fit ARS. \nVisit: atlantarhythmsection.com
