This portrait of the 16th president has been praised by those who knew him as more lifelike than any other. Exhibited at the US Capitol\, the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia\, and the Union League Club in New York\, among other important places\, this portrait eventually found a home in the Hartley Dodge Memorial in Madison\, NJ.
