SUMMARY:Dar Williams
DESCRIPTION:“It’s a highway\, filled with deep\, exotic colors and beautiful delicate things as well as the perils that come from moving so fast\,” says Dar Williams\, describing modern life. On her 13th album\, Hummingbird Highway\, out September 12 on Righteous Babe Records\, Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician. “I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world\,” Williams muses. Hummingbird Highway is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story. Drawing on her experience as a playwright\, Williams populates her latest album with nuanced characters that come alive in the space of a few minutes. \nOn the title track\, Williams sings from the perspective of a child speaking to her peripatetic and sometimes struggling parent. Blooming columbines\, china blue teapots\, and cinnamon bark number among the “treasures” in her life\, despite the “pirates” that she imagines populating her worldly parent’s life. “The pirates can be all sorts of things living inside and outside your head. The child\, for better or worse\, knows that there is joy\, unpredictability\, and instability on the home front. She’s rooting for the joy.” \nLongtime listeners know that Williams and her music are always up for those kinds of conversations that glimpse the brightest colors\, woven into the larger context of time. “As I’ve gotten older\, I feel more comfortable holding a lot of different threads in my hand to create more complicated patterns. Time has given me a better ability to hold a bunch of colors and temperaments and see what happens\, where they become interesting new stories and also where I need to stop and untangle the themes and characters. It’s daunting\, and I’ve learned that\, you know\, daunting is fine\, just keep going.” \nThe Nields will be perfoming alongside Williams at this show. The Nields are a folk-rock band from Massachusetts. They are delighted to announce the release of their much-anticipated twenty-first album\, Circle of Days. An homage to the calendar––and really\, time itself––this collection of songs is a testament to the band’s enduring creativity and unwavering commitment to their craft. During the pandemic\, Nerissa and Katryna Nields\, the band’s frontwomen\, took a daily walk with their beloved dogs\, Greta and Hudson. The destination was a nearby lake\, where Katryna would take a daily photo. Inspired by the ever-shifting seasons\, they came to realize that each of Nerissa’s new songs could be intimately connected to a particular time of year\, forming a musical cycle. \nVisit: darwilliams.com and nields.com

His debut record “Lost and Found” (2004) was featured on CBS Sunday Morning by music critic and then VP MTV/VH1\, Bill Flanagan\, who named House one of the best emerging singer-songwriters of our time. \nAfter forging a loyal fan base through years of grassroots touring as an opener for acts such as John Mellencamp and the Cranberries\, House broke through as a national headliner in 2009 with an appearance on Late Night with Craig Ferguson and the release of his underground hit “The Guy That Says Goodbye to You is Out of His Mind.” \nThe music documentary “Rising Star\,” released on Amazon Prime in 2019\, chronicles House’s journey through the music business\, as he attempts to balance the challenges of life as a traveling modern-day troubadour with marriage\, fatherhood and sobriety. \nHouse’s music has been featured on prime time television shows such One Tree Hill\, Rescue Me\, Party of Five\, and Everwood\, and reviewed in magazines such as Paste\, No Depression and Rolling Stone. American Songwriter writes “if you want to be blown away by raw talent\, look no further than Griffin House.” \nHis latest release “The Tides” is a five song EP recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacquire King and is set for release on Aug 29\, 2023. SUMMARY:Peter Mulvey
DESCRIPTION:Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur\, and almost-poet since before he can remember. In 1989 he spent a year in Ireland\, busking on the streets of Dublin and hitchhiking to whatever gigs he could find. Back stateside\, he spent a couple years gigging through the bars of his native Midwest before taking off for Boston\, where he returned to subway busking and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national touring. The wheels have not stopped since. \nTwenty albums\, one illustrated book\, thousands of live performances\, a TEDx talk\, a decades-long association with the National Youth Science Camp\, opening tours and gigs for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco\, Greg Brown\, Emmylou Harris and Chuck Prophet\, appearances on NPR\, an annual autumn tour by bicycle\, emceeing festivals\, hosting his own Lamplighter Sessions for years in Boston and in Wisconsin… he has built his life’s work on collaboration\, on an instinct for the eclectic and the vital. \nVisit: petermulvey.com

SUMMARY:TCAN Players: Puffs\, or\, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic
DESCRIPTION:The TCAN Players return with their production of PUFFS\, or\, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic – a play written by Matt Cox\, and directed at TCAN by Danielle Woods. \nFor seven years\, a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. \nThis\, however\, is not his story. \nThis is the story of the young wizards of Hufflepuff House… who just happened to be there too. \nPUFFS is a play for anyone who has never been destined to save the world! This clever show “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to place fourth at a very dangerous magic school for kids. Overlooked and underestimated\, the Puffs are a perky\, well-meaning\, loyal group of outsiders with a thing for badgers. Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a hero can be. \nCONTENT ADVISORY\nPUFFS\, like the source material it parodies\, can be considered PG-13. It features some adult language and situations. We leave it up to parents to decide for themselves if this show is right for those under the age of 13\, younger wizards may learn some new curses. \nDirected by Danielle Woods\nProduced by Amanda Greenslet and Dick Mandel \nOUR CAST \nWayne Hopkins – Scott Salley (Framingham)\nOliver Rivers – Sophia Kelley (Littleton)\nMegan Jones – Emily Isaac (Somerville)\nNarrator – Kirsty Vitarelli (Natick)\nErnie Mac\, A Certain Potions Teacher – Paul Antico (Cohasset)\nFirst Headmaster\, Professor McG – Cathy Merlo (Wellesley)\nJ Finch Fletchley\, Uncle Dave – Liv Tambascio (Boston)\nLianne\, Hannah\, Ginny – Liv Skerry (Holliston)\nSally Perks\, Blondo Malfoy – Tara Boudreau (Brighton)\nSusie Bones\, Harry\, Colin – Camryn Hafner (Somerville)\nCedric\, Mr Voldy – Jessica Moss (Newtonville)\nHannah\, Ensemble – Ann Springer (Natick)\nHelga\, Ensemble – Ellis Lennon (Hopkinton) \nPERFORMANCES \nFriday\, November 7\, 2025 | 7:30pm\nSaturday\, November 8\, 2025 | 7:30pm\nSunday\, November 9\, 2025 | 2:00pm\nThursday\, November 13\, 2025 | 7:30pm\nFriday\, November 14\, 2025 | 7:30pm\nSaturday\, November 15\, 2025 | 7:30pm\nSunday\, November 16\, 2025 | 2:00pm

SUMMARY:Naturally 7
DESCRIPTION:Certain experiences burn themselves in your memory from the very first encounter. The jaw-dropping audio pyrotechnics that Naturally 7 put on display every night absolutely belong in that category. “A capella group” so vastly underplays what they create onstage that they had to coin a phrase – “Vocal Play” – to more accurately depict what they do. Naturally 7 is more than a tightly orchestrated collection of great singers. They transform their voices into actual human instruments\, effortlessly producing music of any genre. Their vocal choreography is so perfectly interwoven that they compelled the musical maestro himself\, Quincy Jones\, to declare that “Naturally 7 is the future of vocal music!!” Their sonic mastery was on full display in a series of unforgettable performances on “The World’s Best” TV show\, which premiered on CBS immediately following Super Bowl LIII. Hosted by comedian and “Car Karaoke” collaborator\, James Corden\, Naturally 7 reigned supreme as the world’s “Best Group”\, and cemented their singular status among the planet’s musical elite. \nThis was only icing on the cake of a still-vibrant 20-year career\, which includes 3 world tours – nearly 500 shows – with the incomparable Michael Bublé\, shared billing with global phenomenon Coldplay – including a sold out show at the Barclays Center – and owned the spotlight in a pair of national Cheerios commercials. In addition to Bublé\, Naturally 7 has shared the stage with numerous icons\, including Stevie Wonder\, Diana Ross\, Quincy Jones\, Sarah Connor\, Lionel Richie\, Ludacris\, The Roots\, and more. Counted among their world-famous fans are President Barack Obama\, Will.I.Am.\, Ellen DeGeneres\, Craig Ferguson\, Bill and Melinda Gates\, Jay Leno\, Allan Titchmarsh\, Mo’Nique\, Jools Holland\, and Arsenio Hall\, along with countless others. \nWith the release of their latest project\, 20/20\, Naturally 7 comes full circle\, adding a fresh spin on 20 fan favorites\, hand selected by fans the world over. This\, their eleventh studio album\, celebrates their 20th anniversary in the music industry\, giving music lovers all they could hope for\, and then some. For the members of Naturally 7 – “Ricky“ Lee Ricardo Cort\, Rod Eldridge\, N’namdi Bryant\, Sean Simmonds\, Dwight Stewart\, Roger Thomas\, and Warren Thomas – it’s a privilege to do what they love and bring so much joy to the hearts of their fans each and every night.  It’s exactly what you would expect. When something is pure magic it’s destined to withstand the test of time. Naturally… Naturally 7. \nVisit: naturallyseven.com

SUMMARY:John Gorka
DESCRIPTION:John Gorka is a world-renowned singer-songwriter who got his start at a neighborhood coffeehouse in eastern Pennsylvania. Though small\, Godfrey Daniels was and is one of the oldest and most venerable music institutions and has long been a hangout for music lovers and aspiring musicians. In the late 1970’s\, John was one of these aspiring musicians. Although his academic coursework at Moravian College lay in Philosophy and History\, music began to offer paramount enticements. Soon he found himself living in the club’s basement and acting as resident MC and sound man\, encountering legendary folk troubadours like Canadian singer-songwriter Stan Rogers\, Eric Andersen\, Tom Paxton and Claudia Schmidt. \nTheir brand of folk-inspired acoustic music inspired him\, and before long he was performing his own songs – mostly as an opener for visiting acts. Soon he started traveling to New York City\, where Jack Hardy’s legendary Fast Folk circle (a breeding ground for many a major singer-songwriter) became a powerful source of education and encouragement. Folk meccas like Texas’ Kerrville Folk Festival (where he won the New Folk Award in 1984) and Boston followed\, and his stunningly soulful baritone voice and original songwriting began turning heads. Those who had at one time inspired him – Suzanne Vega\, Bill Morrissey\, Nanci Griffith\, Christine Lavin\, Shawn Colvin – had become his peers. \nVisit: johngorka.com

SUMMARY:Atlanta Rhythm Section
DESCRIPTION:The Atlanta Rhythm Section… ARS… In the annals of rock and roll\, where do they fit? They put out 15 albums of excellent original material\, and consistently put on entertaining live shows-both of which helped establish a broad if not huge fan base. They had some big hits and have been a major player in the Southern Rock scene. But is that the whole story? In some circles\, maybe. But for those who’ve really gotten to know their music over the years\, there’s a lot more to the story. \nYou know Atlanta Rhythm Section from the hits So Into You\, I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight\, Champagne Jam\, Imaginary Lover\, and their session work on the original recording of Spooky made famous by the Classics IV\, and later re-recorded by ARS. \nARS was paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers – carrying the mantle of “Southern Rock” in the late 70s. Based in Atlanta\, Georgia\, it may have made sense at the time. But performing songs that were more musically diverse and having hits that had a softer\, pop sound\, the “Southern Rock” label was a mixed blessing and many of their unique musical accomplishments became lost in a genre that has lived on to this day-but never really fit ARS. \nVisit: atlantarhythmsection.com

SUMMARY:BOTH SIDES NOW: The Music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen

SUMMARY:Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets
DESCRIPTION:Nick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders-The Damned)\, songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart\, short-lived career as a pop star\, and a lengthy term as a musicians’ musician. But in his current ‘second act’ as a silver-haired\, tender-hearted but sharp-tongued singer-songwriter\, he has no equal. \n\nStarting with 1995′s ‘The Impossible Bird’ through to 2011′s ‘The Old Magic\,’ Nick has turned out a fantastic string of albums\, each one devised in his West London home\, and recorded with a core of musicians who possess the same veteran savvy. Lowe brings wit and understated excellence to every performance\, leading Ben Ratliff of the New York Times to describe his live show as “elegant and nearly devastating.” \nLos Straitjackets are the leading practitioners of the lost art of the guitar instrumental. Using the music of the Ventures\, The Shadows\, and with Link Wray and Dick Dale as a jumping off point\, the band has taken their unique\, high energy brand of original rock & roll around the world. Clad in their trademark Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling masks\, the “Jackets” have delivered their trademark guitar licks to 16 albums\, thousands of concerts and dozens of films and TV shows. \nTogether Nick & The Straitjackets have toured extensively around Europe and the United States\, and are releasing an EP of new songs in June 2017. \nVisit: nicklowe.com losstraitjackets.com

For his highly anticipated 2025 Midwest summer tour\, Layus has assembled his world-class band again to perform a host of Augustana classics. \nAugustana has been a pivotal artist in the Pop/Rock genre since it’s ubiquitous\, piano driven hit\, “Boston” was released in 2005. SUMMARY:Darlingside
DESCRIPTION:Exquisitely arranged\, literary-minded\, baroque folk-pop. Comprised of Don Mitchell\, Auyon Mukharji\, Harris Paseltiner and David Senft\, four likeminded multi-instrumentalists who first met at Williams College in 2009\, Darlingside’s career has been defined by the elegance of their compositions and the unity of their four voices. Their talent for harmony and melodic world-building is part of what garnered praise from outlets like NPR\, Rolling Stone\, and The New Yorker\, and what has created demand worldwide for their extraordinary live performances. \nEverything Is Alive\, Darlingside’s fourth LP\, marks a subtle but remarkable departure for the Boston-based quartet NPR once described as “exquisitely arranged\, literary minded\, baroque folk-pop.” While the album retains much of the lushness and sophistication of Extralife (2018) and Fish Pond Fish (2020)\, the band’s latest work decisively exposes and differentiates the individual voices of the four songwriters—a daring reinvention for a group known for ubiquitous vocal harmonies. Grappling with change both personal and universal\, with quandaries domestic and existential\, Everything Is Alive is an album about loss and the struggle for a semblance of redemption. \nVisit: darlingside.com

SUMMARY:Marc Cohn
DESCRIPTION:After winning a Grammy for his soulful ballad “Walking in Memphis\,” Marc Cohn solidified his place as one of this generation’s most compelling singer-songwriters\, combining the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man. Rooted in the rich ground of American rhythm and blues\, soul and gospel and possessed of a deft storyteller’s pen\, he weaves vivid\, detailed\, often drawn-from-life tales that evoke some of our most universal human feelings: love\, hope\, faith\, joy\, heartbreak. \nIn 2019\, Marc released a collaborative record with gospel legends Blind Boys of Alabama titled ‘Work To Do’ which was released on BMG. ‘Work to Do’ is comprised of three studio tracks plus seven intimate live performances recorded at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook\, CT\, during a taping of the PBS series The Kate. Original plans were to release an EP containing the studio tracks\, but the excitement and magic captured during the taping inspired the decision to create this unique hybrid album. \n2019 was a busy year for Marc\, consisting of 75 shows in about 65 cities. Moving forward\, Marc continues to do what he does best: infuse American music with both a fresh perspective and a reverence for its deep roots. \nVisit: marccohnmusic.com
