“James Gunn’s new ‘Superman’ film earns a glowing five-star review, revitalizing the iconic character by embracing vulnerability, humor, and hopeful optimism.” – Tom Shone, Film Critic – The Times (UK)

Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

When Superman gets drawn into conflicts at home and abroad, his actions are questioned, giving tech billionaire Lex Luthor the opportunity to get the Man of Steel out of the way for good. Will intrepid reporter Lois Lane and Superman’s four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help him before it’s too late?

In 2022, James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as co-CEOs of DC Studios, a newly formed division within Warner Bros. Discovery. This is part of a larger overhaul of the DC movie and TV franchises, intended to create a more unified, cohesive cinematic universe, similar to what Marvel Studios has done with the MCU. The shift to DC Studios is a way to reset the franchise under a more strategic and creative direction, with a focus on interconnected storytelling.
